কবি কাজী রোজী ১৯৪৯ সালের ১৬ই আগস্ট সাতক্ষীরা জেলায় এক সম্রান্ত পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। মা কাজী বারীরা শহীদ, বাবা কাজী শহীদুল ইসলাম। তিনি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে বাংলা সাহিত্য সম্মানসহ এম,এ, ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। শিক্ষাজীবন শেষে তিনি তথ্য অধিদপ্তরের অধীনে উর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা হিসেবে কর্মজীবন শুরু করেন। প্রকৃতি ও মানুষকে তিনি আপন করে নিয়েছিলেন বাল্যকাল থেকেই। স্কুল জীবনেই জড়িয়ে পড়েনিলেন এ দেশের মানুষের আন্দোলন ও রাজনীতির সঙ্গে। ১৯৭১ সালে মহান স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে তিনি স্বাধীন বাংলা বেতার কেন্দ্রের সঙ্গে যুক্ত হন এবং মুক্তিযুদ্ধে সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ করেন। তার কবিতার প্রতিটি চরণে ফুটে উঠেছে এ দেশের মাটি ও মানুষের কথা। ভাত দিবার পারসনা/ভাতার হবার চাস? কেমন মরদ তুই/ হারামজাদা…’ এ সাহসী উচ্চারণের স্বীকৃতি স্বরূপ ১৯৮২ সালে তাকে লা-ফোর্টিনা ক্রেস্ট প্রদান করা হয়। তিনি অসংখ্য গান লিখেছেন। বেতার, টেলিভিশন মঞ্চের জন্য লিখেছেন নাটক তাঁর লেখা কুসুম বেত্তান্ত ভারতের উড়িষ্যা সাত্ত্বিক নাট্যসম্প্রদায় মঞ্চস্থ করেছে। মঞ্চ নাটক কুসুম উপাখ্যান’ শিল্পকলা একাডেমি ও মহিলা সমিতিতে নিয়মিত মঞ্চস্থ হচ্ছে। ১৯৯৭ সালে কবিতে বাংলাদেশ লেখিকা সংঘ সাহিত্য পদক প্রদান করা হয়। ২০০৮ সালে কলকাতা থেকে মহাদিগন্ত সাহিত্য পদক এবং একই বছর ফরিদপুর থেকে নির্ণয় স্বর্ণপদকসহ অনন্যা সাহিত্য পুরস্কার (২০১৩) এবং সা’দত আলী আখন্দ সাহিত্য পুরস্কার (২১৩) অর্জন করেছেন। বর্তমানে তিনি বাংলাদেশ দশম জাতীয় সংসদের মাননীয় সংসদ সদস্য।
